Once it started again I re-installed the update and that seemed to fix it but now it's started again.

I suggest you look for some replacement fans. Set a custom minimum fan speed so "Fan stop" feature won't make the fans stop at idle. (The actual "20%" speed is 1100 RPM or so, compared to a 100% speed of 3400 RPM.)
