Webb11 maj 2016 · Our club has gone to steel and I have been loading STS and Gun clubs with the MG42 wad 25 G of longshot and 428 G of #7 steel shot. This load produces 1345 fps and 10,200 psi. and works well with the un- body construction. The Remingtons being tapered wall hulls work well with the Mica dry lubricant and have done the trick on clays. Webb25 maj 2016 · I tried the 1700 fps load with Longshot and he MG42 wad. I backed my powder charge down to 33 grains and I did not get a good pattern. I didn't use any buffer and that may have been my problem. I was using #5 steel and it punctured the wad petals. I started using Mylar wrap(aka transparency film) which I cut and put into the wad.
